Dry Brushing

Are you familiar with dry brushing? This once spa treatment is gaining popularity, and for good reason! The idea behind dry brushing is to stimulate circulation and the body's lymphatic system while exfoliating. By using a dry natural bristle brush on the skin you are removing dead skin cells as well as stimulating and increasing skin cell production. This gives the skin a healthy glow! Although it seems as if this treatment is only beneficial for the skin, there are a lot more benefits to your overall health.

  • Healthy skin- By gently exfoliating the skin, you are ridding its surface of dead skin cells. Skin cell production increases, pores are opened and cleared of debris and are able to absorb nutrients better.
  • Stimulated Lymphatic & Circulatory system- Increased circulation helps to detoxify the body and boost your lymphatic system
  • Relieves Stress- Increasing the blood flow throughout the body helps to calm and relax you. Its almost like a massage!
  • Reduces Cellulite- A biggie, when you exfoliate the body you also help to smooth out and reduce cellulite.

So is there a specific way to do this dry brushing thing? Yes! Have you ever had a body wrap? Their technique is to start at the bottom and work their way up. You will do the same when dry brushing. You want to make long firm strokes always working your way inward towards the direction of the heart. Here is a diagram showing front and back how to brush the entire body:
