It's funny how the dead silence of the middle of the night can play tricks on you. Maybe that's just me. Throughout the day we are bombarded with sensory overload. All day long so much to see, smell, taste and hear. All day, everyday non freaking stop. You wind down from the day, then crawl into bed and drift off to sleep.Well you would if you slept like a normal person. I do not do that. I have insomnia. I guess that makes me abnormal? haha! But honestly, I really do have insomnia. Bad insomnia. I've had insomnia since I was in grade school, So while most people are out cold, sleeping comfy in their bed, I'm laying here, awake writing this post. Its nearly 1:30 in the morning and there are no signs of tiredness or of sleepiness. Instead, I lay here listening to the sounds of night time. It's not as peaceful as you would think. My cat is now aware that his collar has a bell on it. In the distance I can hear a mix of police sirens and motorcycles.
The GIGANTIC tree in our backyard frequently drops dead branches on the top of our house. Huge dead branches! We can hear every single drop. I swear most of the time it sounds like one of them is going to come crashing through the roof like the freaking Kool-aid guy. The house also creaks, which is unnerving. Maybe being creeped out by all the sounds contributes to my insomnia? I have no clue. What I do know, is that there is freshly cut watermelon in the fridge, and its calling my name.
