Boy oh boy it's been seemingly forever since I've been to a convention. I have been impatiently waiting for MASSive Comic Con to roll around and it finally came this weekend! Last year I went dressed as Lady Deadpool in a costume that wasn't that great (mostly the mask) but this year I went as Femme Raiden (but changed into Lady Deadpool later...I'll explain that later on). We went on Saturday for a change and it was a lot of fun. There were tons of vendor and as always we were on a search for the Bank Robbery Joker Pop figure. Unfortunately we couldn't find him. But we did get to see a lot of cool booths.
The Nerd Magician had a show that we were all really looking forward to. We all got a kick out of it, but a lot of the movie references my son didn't really get. He's never seen Back to the Future, he he. Overall it was nice, but the real anticipation came after the magic show was over. You see, last year they had a Light Saber dueling class. We got there too late and missed it, but the guy who led the class did an impromptu one with my son and about 4 other kids who also missed the main class. We made sure to get there on time for that! There was a good amount of kids there and they gave them all toy light saber things. They actually let the kids keep them, which i was extremely surprised by! After the hour long training, my son got a solid 5-10 minutes of solo time with the instructor to learn more light saber/sword combat techniques. That was really cool.
Afterward we went back to the main convention floor and wandered around a bit. Mostly looking at costumes and taking pictures. Here are the pictures my husband took:
There was this really cool Lobo! It was the first time I'd seen someone in person cosplaying as him. It was really neat and the cosplayer was really nice! My husband showed him the Lobo face makeup I did a while back and we all got a kick out of it.
My husband took this photo of me while my son was doing the light saber dueling class! I added some extra effects! My 'lightning ball' wasn't quite working the way I needed it to *insert sad face*.
These photos had me so hype! I finally got to meet Bethany Maddock! She was actually really excited when she saw me. She also does two gender bent Mortal Kombat cosplays so when she saw me I went over to her booth and we talked a bit. My husband took the picture on the right, and she took a selfie with me and my son and posted it on her Instagram. I thought that was really cool, she was so sweet!
I also got to meet these two really cool DC cosplayers. The girl who is Harley was spot on even with the voice! Batman was great too. On the right, I got a photo with one of my favorite Deadpools! There were a few other Deadpools around but I didn't get pictures with them.
I ran into quite a lot of DC cosplayers come to think of it. This Catwoman was adorable! But let me tell you about this Joker....he was spot on. Like SPOT on. Voice, mannerism, attitude....all 100 percent legit. He gave me his card and I was completely expecting a 'joker' card from a deck of cards!
Hipster Cyclops and batman were both really cool, this Batman is by far my favorite, I finally got to meet him in person!
Now for my favorite four photos. First Wonder Woman. Its always fun running into her at Cons, shes such a sweet person and is one of the best Wonder Woman cosplayers I've ever seen. Cobra Commander was one of the highlights of my day. I knew he was coming to the con because we had talked beforehand. The last Con we went to, I was Baroness and my son was Cobra Commander. So we were all three supposed to coordinate and do GI Joe, but my son changed his mind and I coordinated with him instead of doing my Baroness, and I totally regret it. I really wish I'd worn my Baroness because it would have made for awesome photos! But apparently there will be a mass convergence of GI Joe cosplayers at Rhode Island Comic Con, so I am going to try to make it there!
My family and I stayed for several hours until we started getting hungry and my son got a bit bored. So we left and went home to eat. After being there for a while, I changed into my Lady Deadpool costume and decided to go back for a bit. When I got back I ran into two more friends!!
I usually run into Everyones Hero Cosplay at some point or another at the cons I go to, so it was awesome running into him in the afternoon. It's been about a year since I wore Lady Deadpool to an actual convention (Free Comic Book Day doesn't count), so I was excited to wear her. My only issue was the sole of one of my boot covers was giving me issues which i have to fix soon. But I also got to see my Senpai!! Dressed as one of the Blues Brothers, I guess I missed them the entire day even when I was dressed as Femme Raiden. I have tunnel vision when at things like cons so it doesn't surprise me that I completely missed them. Senpai also set up a photo shoot for my Lady Deadpool. This was such a surprise and a welcomed one at that! I got to work with K Brophy Studio and I cannot wait to see how the photos turn out!!!
I had so much fun at this con and I'm so excited for the next con I'm going to. It's a small con in my town but hey, its another excuse to wear a costume in public! I just need to figure out which one! I hope you guys had a great weekend and are having a great week. What are your plans for the fourth of July??
